Academic Achievements
- 1999-1995 Read Physics
at St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University leading to a Master
of Physics (MPhys) in which I was awarded a 2.1. In the
final year I specialised in Condensed Matter Physics and
Atomic and Laser Physics. This included a final year proj
ect in which I :
- Learned to use a new
programming language (Labview).
- Created an experimental test
bed for semiconductor samples with a GUI.
- Prepared a report detailing
this including a full manual.
- 1995-1991 Monmouth School, Wales
- 4 A-Levels Maths(A), Further
Maths(A), Physics(A), and Chemistry(B)
- 11 GCSEs (6 A, 5 B) including
Maths, English Literature, English Language and
French.

- Angerstein Underwriting
(now part of Amlin plc)
- Aug 99 - Creating Excel
spreadsheets as part of a new accounting system.
- Dec/Jan 99 - Internet research to
establish compliance issues for Y2K. Leadership and
organisational work as part of the company
relocation.
- Aug/Sep 98 - General database and
administrative work and in the room at Lloyd's of
London working with the underwriting team.
- Whittingdale Holdings (now part of
Alliance Capital)
- Jun/Jul 98 - Worked for the fund
management team to implement a new tool from
Bloomberg to automatically update their market
information databases from the Internet. I then wrote
a manual and gave a presentation teaching them the
usage of the new open Bloomberg system. As a part of
this job I made a contribution to the ir daily
strategy meetings.
- Aug/Sep 97 - Work in company
stores including inventory and assisting with the
groundwork of an SAP implementation.
- Summer 95 - Process testing in the
R&D labs and production of a report.

interviewing work which improved my communication
skills.

Skills
- Good computer skills including fluency
with the Windows O/S and Microsoft office package, ~50
wpm typing speed and good general computer literacy. I
have recently been using HTML to write a website and
writing some applets with Java.

Hobbies
- Rowing - Represented College and
School at 1st VIII (and other) levels and was involved in
running the boat club, particularly with the organisation
and coaching of novice crews.
- Basketball - Founder member of College
cuppers basketball side.
- Travel - I have travelled fairly
widely and have recently visited India and Belgium.
- Sports - I also enjoy golf, juggling
and almost any other sports.
- Computing - Avid computer gamer and
net surfer.
